Serhiy Storchaka d8e6bdc0d0 gh-135801: Add the module parameter to compile() etc (GH-139652)
Many functions related to compiling or parsing Python code, such as
compile(), ast.parse(), symtable.symtable(),
and importlib.abc.InspectLoader.source_to_code() now allow to pass
the module name used when filtering syntax warnings.

Revert "GH-91079: Implement C stack limits using addresses, not counters. (GH-130007)" for now

Unfortunatlely, the change broke some buildbots.

This reverts commit 2498c22fa0.

mpage 255762c09f gh-127274: Defer nested methods (#128012)
Methods (functions defined in class scope) are likely to be cleaned
up by the GC anyway.

Add a new code flag, `CO_METHOD`, that is set for functions defined
in a class scope. Use that when deciding to defer functions.

Jelle Zijlstra 24d8b88420 gh-103763: Implement PEP 695 (#103764)
This implements PEP 695, Type Parameter Syntax. It adds support for:

- Generic functions (def func[T](): ...)
- Generic classes (class X[T](): ...)
- Type aliases (type X = ...)
- New scoping when the new syntax is used within a class body
- Compiler and interpreter changes to support the new syntax and scoping rules

zikcheng 24a4b34158 Make _symtable_entry.ste_type's comment consistent wit _Py_block_ty (#92414)
_Py_block_ty defines four types of block, FunctionBlock, ClassBlock, ModuleBlock and AnnotationBlock.
But _symtable_entry.ste_type only comments three of them, I think it's better both sides are consistent.

Pablo Galindo a77aac4fca bpo-43914: Highlight invalid ranges in SyntaxErrors (#25525)
To improve the user experience understanding what part of the error messages associated with SyntaxErrors is wrong, we can highlight the whole error range and not only place the caret at the first character. In this way:

>>> foo(x, z for z in range(10), t, w)
  File "<stdin>", line 1
    foo(x, z for z in range(10), t, w)
           ^
SyntaxError: Generator expression must be parenthesized

becomes

>>> foo(x, z for z in range(10), t, w)
  File "<stdin>", line 1
    foo(x, z for z in range(10), t, w)
           ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
SyntaxError: Generator expression must be parenthesized

Victor Stinner 94faa0724f bpo-43244: Remove ast.h, asdl.h, Python-ast.h headers (GH-24933)
These functions were undocumented and excluded from the limited C
API.

Most names defined by these header files were not prefixed by "Py"
and so could create names conflicts. For example, Python-ast.h
defined a "Yield" macro which was conflict with the "Yield" name used
by the Windows <winbase.h> header.

Use the Python ast module instead.

* Move Include/asdl.h to Include/internal/pycore_asdl.h.
* Move Include/Python-ast.h to Include/internal/pycore_ast.h.
* Remove ast.h header file.
* pycore_symtable.h no longer includes Python-ast.h.

Victor Stinner 28ad12f8fe bpo-43244: Remove symtable.h header file (GH-24910)
Rename Include/symtable.h to to Include/internal/pycore_symtable.h,
don't export symbols anymore (replace PyAPI_FUNC and PyAPI_DATA with
extern) and rename functions:

* PyST_GetScope() to _PyST_GetScope()
* PySymtable_BuildObject() to _PySymtable_Build()
* PySymtable_Free() to _PySymtable_Free()

Remove PySymtable_Build(), Py_SymtableString() and
Py_SymtableStringObject() functions.

The Py_SymtableString() function was part the stable ABI by mistake
but it could not be used, since the symtable.h header file was
excluded from the limited C API.

The Python symtable module remains available and is unchanged.
